Keep learning, for the joy of it.
School doesn't have to end. Pick up the skill you've been circling for years, or sit down with a subject you know nothing about, next to people who light up when they talk about it.
Why take a class
A few of the reasons people keep coming back.
Learn from people who love it
Every class here exists because somebody couldn't stop talking about a subject and finally gave in. That kind of enthusiasm rubs off.
Follow your curiosity
One semester might offer pottery, Plato, and how to actually listen to jazz. Take whatever pulls at you.
Stretch your mind
Some classes are seminars where you spend two hours making sense of a book together. Others put a tool in your hand. Both kinds change how you think.
Leave with friends
A weekly class with ten people has a way of turning into a group chat, then a dinner. The conversation after class is half the point.
Small classes, no grades
No lecture halls. Groups stay small enough that you can ask the obvious question without needing a microphone.
Close to home
Classes meet in person around Somerville and Cambridge, priced so you don't have to think hard about signing up. Learning as a regular part of the week, like groceries.
What it's actually like
Most classes meet a few times over several weeks; some are a single evening. Usually it's a handful of people in a comfortable room with an instructor who clearly wants to be there.
You don't need any background, and nobody expects you to be “good” at it yet. Ask the beginner questions. There are no grades here, just people thinking out loud in the same room.
